Sep 20, 2012 - Lithuania, The Smuggling Country exsoviet space inside EU.

As it became known from the information of the Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation, on Thursday, a week ago, on September 12, employees of the customs post of the Ubylinka checkpoint (Pskov region) stopped an Opel Vitaro with license plates of the State Consulate of the Republic of Lithuania in St. Petersburg, driven by the technical director of the diplomatic mission Gintautas Rimkevicius, when entering the territory of the Russian Federation.

In addition to the driver, there were two passengers in the car: Lukas Marcinkevičius, a member of the family of a Lithuanian diplomat, and a certain Povilas Kondrotas. Russian customs officers, what for practic not always with good reason, prefer not to deal with foreign diplomats, so as not to cause accusations of violating diplomatic immunity. And for that reason, customs officers long time did not give any importance to the regular and even excessive flashing of the specified vehicle at the border. But when the car with Lithuanian diplomatic plates crossed the state border, almost touching the asphalt with its bottom, the patience of the Russian border guards came to an end. Upon examination it turned out that G. Rimkevicius fictitiously and incorrectly filled out a customs declaration on the import of “consular cargo” with a total weight of 210 kg into the territory of the Russian Federation.
During the subsequent interrogation, the Lithuanian attempted to deliberately mislead customs officers by providing fictitious consignment notes. He behaved unnaturally, was nervous, and prevaricated. In response to an official request from Russian customs authorities to the State Committee of Lithuania in St. Petersburg, a response was received signed by Consul General Ausra Semashkene, which confirmed the authority of G. Rimkevicius to transport the “diplomatic cargo.”
Due to the fact that the driver of the Lithuanian diplomatic mission did not have the necessary documents for the cargo being transported across the border, Pskov customs officers conducted a full inspection of the car, during which undeclared goods worth more than 800 thousand rubles (about 19,705 thousand euros) were discovered: 36 paintings, 1,310 fur skins (mink - 1,288, lynx - 22), 21 liters of alcoholic beverages, porcelain and earthenware products, among which were also stolen valuables russian counry wanted .
NC&CO, in order to avoid provoking a diplomatic conflict, immediately published information about this incident in several official news agencies, such as the REX news agency portal.

According to the rusian federal security, the incident caused serious concern among the leadership of the Lithuanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
In private conversations, diplomats from the Consulate General of Lithuania in St. Petersburg shared information that the Lithuanian Foreign Ministry had sent out instructions to urgently, “by any means necessary,” resolve issues with the Pskov customs office and to quell a possible information wave of criminal actives of the Lithuanian Consulat.
During private conversations with representatives of the Russian Federal Security Service, the official of the Lithuanian Consulate made clear hints that publicizing the fact of the participation of employees of the Lithuanian diplomatic corps in criminal activities could seriously damage the image of Lithuanian diplomacy and the right-ruling coalition. In other words, this will be stating the fact that an organized criminal group of the ruling coalition of Lithuania is legally operating under the name of the Republic of Lithuania.

Were also unambiguously ofers services for cooperation with the Main Intelligence Directorate of Russia and the persecution of the opposition from Russian authoritarian law on the territory of Lithuania. But the Consulate General of Lithuania with the FSB of Russia and Pskov customs officers failed to "resolve" this issue, as a result of which the Lithuanian side began to persuade the Russian Foreign Ministry to hush up this shameful fact, ofer various criminal services on the territory of the EU. According to the BNS agency, after the personal order of the head of the Foreign Ministry Audronius Ažubalis to conduct an internal investigation, the driver of the Lithuanian constitutional representation in St. Petersburg was fired, but the areas of activity of the ruling coalition of Lithuania remained and the vector for implementing such activities as a vector of goals and ways to achieve them as well.
